Wilde Taylor
Wilde Taylor is an Auckland acoustic duo which performs its own exciting brand of original and non-original ‘Americana’ music.
‘Americana’ can be described as a musical amalgamation of Folk, Blues and Country styles from across USA. Artists like Bob Dylan, The Eagles, Tom Petty, John Mellencamp are example of musicians who fall into this genre.
Wilde Taylor consists of vocalist and multi instrumentalist, Jesse Wilde, and guitarist, Ed Taylor.
Jesse Wilde
Born in Auckland, Jesse Wilde has been a professional musician for over 20 years throughout N.Z and USA. He has spent lengthy periods in America, ‘hanging out’ with artists such as Bob Seger, John Mellencamp and Steve Earle.
Jesse has been in several successful Auckland bands including ‘Acoustic Attitude’ and ‘Fiesta Drive’, and has released numerous recordings. As well as performing, Jesse runs a state of the art recording studio and events center with his wife Cath.
Ed Taylor
Ed Taylor (originally from Ohope Beach), is a guitarist who has been playing professionally around Auckland and Melbourne for over 20 years.
In 2000 he completed a Bachelor of Music (performance classical guitar) from Auckland University. He then studied jazz privately for several years with Neville Grenfeld.
He has played in jazz, classical, folk and bluegrass groups, and has performed at numerous festivals and events around N.Z with the groups ‘Wakakura’ and ‘Akoustic Express’ which he founded. In 2014 a song which he composed for ‘Wakakura’ placed 3rd in an Australasian song competition run by Te Papa Museum, and three more of his compositions were selected by the government funding agency 'Te Mangai Paho' to be recorded for Maori radio stations throughout N.Z
